Gluing binding

Gluing in the binding—Like I said earlier, some makers love binding, and some hate it. Even though it is a lot of work, I especially enjoy doing the binding.

Binding and pufling are glued on at the same time, and it can get to be a handful. I sometimes glue six purfling lines at once. Tape (masking or glass-filament) has just enough stretch to make an effective clamp. I have to be fast though, because the glue can set up before I'm ready. I have to cut about 50 strips of tape ahead of time. Oh, for an apprentice!
